MONDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2006, 7.30pm:
KNOW YOUR WORTH
Intellectual Property is all about protecting your ideas, your originality, your creativity. But it's always had its grey areas, especially in the creative industries where a fresh idea can make or break your business.
For the second Creative Hub session Alex Papakyriacou from Briffa - a young law firm that specialises in IP for creatives - will cast some light on some of these grey areas in emerging new media.
We're also pleased to welcome Paul Nicholls, aka podcastpaul, who launched one of the first British podcasts from his home in South Birmingham.
Paul was also instrumental in launching the UK's first Podcast Conference in 2005, and alongside his regular chat and music show he's diversifed into two further broadcasts - PodLawyer, offering an easily-accessible glimpse into the English legal system, and JukePodJury, presenting reviews of rights-free 'podsafe' music and pushing fresh and untapped musical talent.
After an introductory talk on emerging areas of IP law from Alex, Paul will give an insider's view of podcasting and explore the creative rewards and legal pitfalls this flourishing new medium presents.
